RE: THE disused railway between the paths from each end of Kirk Deighton village.

This path is an exceptionally beautiful country walk. Who ever is responsible for this path has caused gouges to be made every few 100 meters or so at the side of the path.

These have spoilt the appearance of the walk. If the intention was to increase safety any one who has walked here will be aware that this has had a minuscule influence if any on safety. The chance of pedestrians being in sight of a gouge when cyclists or joggers are passing is negligibly small.

In the interest of the countryside, soil should be replaced to allow for the natural repair of the damage. This seems to have been an initiative to demonstrate a course of action with scant thought for practicality. A trend which hopefully has had its day.
