The proposal was overwhelmingly rejected by local county councillors and many sections of the community at a previous meeting and clearly things have not improved since.
Whether you think Brexit is good or not, the decision to leave the European Union has thrown the UK economy into a period of high uncertainty in the short to medium term. Harrogate District is not immune to that and anything that has a potential to damage trade is just plain stupid.

Hide AdTo suggest that the attraction to the county council of a potential income stream of another £250,000 a year is not a factor is unbelievable. This is a time for caution not more taxation.
